The Spiritual Gathering of Radical Faeries (SGRF) 2018:

The Sacred Souls of Past, Present and Future

It has been more than 30 years since our elders arrived in Oregon carrying with them hope and the tools to cultivate family and culture in the remote land. So many generations of the children – young and old – have sheltered at Wolf Creek seeking the same things, free of the repressive default world. They rushed into the loving welcome of the valley, and into the verdant comfort of the gentle yet aged grandfather maple, his arms outstretched to embrace all his beautiful sprites and satyrs.

We call the sacred children of all the generations home to the hearth where we gather and embrace, love, share and commune in our fae spirit and light. We dance in the tall reeds of the clearing and sway to the drums, honoring those who have gone but who paved the way for us, and ennobling those who might carry the fire forward.

To the generations who walked those miles ahead of us and those yet to make their marks, we gather to lift each other up inspired by our brotherhood and connectedness. We bind with our hands in circles. With open hearts and minds, we bare our inhibitions to the light of sun and moon to banish doubts and shadows. We combine our magic and wisdom, given without anticipation of reward, to summon the best part of ourselves and our brothers.

This year’s Gathering will have a particular focus and theme, reflecting upon the past as a guide to the present and a springboard to the future, a unity of time and motion. We hope to offer opportunity for self-reflection as well as group engagement on where we’ve been and where we’re going, individually and as a community. We encourage all who attend to think about these issues ahead of time, and to come to the Land with an idea or issue – about themselves or this community – they wish to explore over the course of the week.

The Spiritual Gathering of Radical Faeries, or as it has become known, the “Mens Gathering,” is a “specific container event” for those persons who self-identify as male and whose sexual orientation is male-centered. This includes a large number of folk who have intersectional identities, including trans men, faeries, faggots, queers, homos, gay men, and many others. While we rejoice in and celebrate all identities, the purpose of *this* Gathering is not necessarily to explore various intersectional identities but to keep the focus on male-to-male interaction and relationships, however the *participants* construe that. We acknowledge that this container may not feel appropriate for all who might wish to attend, and we lovingly encourage them to explore other events at the Sanctuary.

Come and join together as we laugh, play, sing, dance, cry, sigh, howl, chant, love and cherish one another for a week of magik and communion.

donations for TAINT

TAINT gathering now has a crowdfunding page!

This summer, we will be hosting a brand new week long gathering called T.A.I.N.T. for up to 100 Two spirit, Agender, Intersex, Nonbinary, Transgender and other gender nonconforming individuals to come together to heal, pray, and celebrate at Wolf Creek…

Thinking about a new residence

We don’t have much to offer in the way of housing for caretakers and other long-term residents; this has consistently been identified as a top priority! More residents would make everything else easier.

So, the Building Committee is calling a special meeting on August 6 to gather up ideas. Join us?
Monday, 8/6, 7pm. By Zoom or phone.

Great Circle

Join us this weekend at our semi-annual Great Circle; it’s where we share visions for the Sanctuary and make plans for the coming year. Friday evening is a heart circle and fire; Saturday and Sunday are meetings. (You can even participate remotely.)

Great Circle is more than just a meeting.  It’s a gatherette for those who love this community and want to help it evolve and thrive. It is an intense and magical co-created process with the power to transform our community and our relationships to each other.

Read the Call; details are in the online Agenda.

Samhain

The Samhain gathering is Oct 26 – Nov 2. Read the Call, and register (so we know how much food to buy)!
We gather, fae folk from all paths betwixt and between, in the time between in-breath and out-breath, in the space between worlds.

What have we lost? What have we put away, that is waiting to be retrieved and shared? What has served us before, that we no longer need? What have our ancestors seeded for us, which we gather together to now celebrate? What do we bring, in (ir)reverence for our hallowed dead, in service to our beloved living hearts?

Hear this call to Samhain, and weave in your stories and your silences with ours. We gather to co-create sanctuary, so that none in our communities may face hungry months alone. We gather to feast, sing, clown, divine, to recall our strengths and carry them with us into the coming year. We gather to heal, and to support each other as we are, complete with our Shadows. As the dark season closes in we honor the wild hunters of the night, and we honor their quarry – they sustain us, and we are them.

The dates have changed; mark your calendars! Great Circle overlaps with the last three days.

As queer-affiliated people of diverse identities, we come together to throw off the shackles of homophobia, sexism, gender programming, transphobia, racism, classism, lookism, and all other forms of internal and external oppression. —Nomenus Seeds of Unity

We sacrifice regarding ourselves and our community as unworthy and disposable, and we actively create a culture of belonging.“—2016 Samhain Sacrifice

“Come out for the gathering, it’ll be cute.”—Stew, like yesterday

Let’s share our experiences of marginalization and privilege in ways that make our relationships and communities stronger. Let’s dismantle hierarchies of oppression and heal personal and ancestral trauma using our Faerie subject-SUBJECT superpowers of radical vulnerability and loving acceptance.

Pendulum offers a focused, intimate gathering container for this work. With Nomenus Great Circle happening at the end of the gathering, it’s an opportunity to meet in person as the kind of community we want to be.

THERE’S A SCHEDULE!  It’s just tentative, but faeries made it by talking to each other.

Pendulum

Date change; the Pendulum gathering (last of the Summer!) will be Sept 1-10; it starts Labor Day weekend, and ends with Great Circle (the semi-annual gatherette where we make decisions about running the Sanctuary).

Pendulum is usually the best opportunity of the year for faeries from all our different sub-communities to gather. Are there circles, conversations, or rituals you’d like to see happen? (For example, there’s the suggestion that we look at how we can address oppression in a way that’s both faerie and effective.) Would you like to organize a harvest feast, or perhaps be Kitchen Queen?
